10th Vienna Forum for Analytic Philosophy (WFAP) Graduate Conference: Just Saying?

Just Saying? A graduate conference on the social and political implications of language and its philosophy. Dates: 5th of July - 7th of July Keynote Speakers: Teresa Marques (Barcelona)Luven Anderson (Syracuse)Alex Davies (Tartu) Words matter. The language we use shapes our political discourse and can be used both to liberate and to oppress. New words and concepts have helped galvanise positive political change whilst slurs, dog whistles and other negative linguistic devices have contributed and continue to contribute to the existence of discrimination. Our language does not exist in an ethical, social or political vacuum. Covid statement: The conference will either take place virtually or in a hybrid format, depending on how the situation develops across Europe. That notwithstanding, all speakers will be able to present virtually, if they are uncomfortable with or unable to travel. Should we be able to run a hybrid conference, we hope to be able to provide financial assistance with respect to travel, testing and accommodation, though cannot guarantee that at this stage. Faithfully, The committee of the Vienna Forum for Analytic Philosophy
