The Residents - Dog Stab! - The 50th Anniversary

Eigentlich war diese Tournee für Anfang 2021 geplant, die Venues bereits gebucht. Doch dann kam Corona, und alles musste verschoben werden – für The Residents möglicherweise keine allzu große Überraschung: In ihrem 2017 aufgeführten Programm „In Between Dreams“ trugen die Bandmitglieder nicht mehr ihre berühmten (und viel kopierten) „Eyeballs“, sondern Masken von Pest-Doktoren des 17. Jahrhunderts, als ob sie die Pandemie geahnt hätten. The Residents waren ihrer Zeit schon immer voraus. Und so kommt es, dass aus der im letzten Jahr geplanten Tournee nun 2022 eine Jubiläums-Tour wird: 50 Jahre gibt es dann diese legendäre kalifornische Band, und ihr Motto ist: „Holding up the Underground since 1972!“ Wie immer gibt die geheimnisvolle Band nur ungern Details zu ihrem neuen Programm preis. Soviel konnten wir jedoch von einem Sprecher der Band über ihre geplante Show in Erfahrung bringen: „Featuring songs from the group’s classic period, as well as their most recent album, The Residents are pleased to announce the DOG STAB! Tour, gloriously celebrating their odd and improbable fifty years of existence. Focusing on the band’s iconic DUCK STAB! album from 1978, the performance will also spotlight music from Metal, Meat & Bone, released in the summer of 2020. Always unpredictable, the group will also feature a few unexpected surprises in this curious and unique carnival of chaos.”
