Il Gardellino Maurice Steger | Dirigent/Blockflöte Francesco Maria Veracini | Orchesterouvertüre VI g-Moll Antonio Vivaldi | Concerto »La Notte« g-Moll RV 439 Toshio Hosokawa | Nachspiel Nacht – Schlaf (aus: Singing Garden in Venice) Johann Sebastian Bach | 4. »Das Stück spielt mit der Stille«, sagt Steger, »es enthält Variationen über den Gedanken des Schlafes und spiegelt so Vivaldis Panoptikum in unserer Zeit.« Konzertdauer: ca. 110 Minuten ___________ He is the leading virtuoso on his special instrument and a rousing ensemble leader: Swiss recorder player and conductor Maurice Steger – to experience him as a charismatic and sparking grand master of baroque sound speech and its plastic effects is always an event. There will be an island which is not baroque at all within the program of concertos and suites by Vivaldi, Bach and Veracini: In 2011, the Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa created reflections on concerti by the Venetian Antonio Vivaldi with »Singing Garden in Venice« – Maurice Steger calls them »dialogue thoughts«. He will juxtapose the famous flute concerto »La Notte« with the »Nachspiel Nacht« (Epilog Night), which is on the verge of soundlessness and to which Hosokawa has referred here. »The piece plays with silence,« says Steger, »it contains variations on the idea of sleep and thus reflects Vivaldi´s panopticon in our time.« Concert duration: about 110 minutes
